How to Fix a Power Window on a Jeep Cherokee
Two Methods:
Troubleshoot the Electrical System
Replace the Regulator
The Jeep Cherokee is equipped with optional power windows that house a regulator to power the window up and down. Problems with window operation can be as simple as checking the fuses, or making sure the lockout switches are receiving voltage. A common occurrence with the power window on the Cherokee is that the screw in the regulator, sometimes called a "worm screw," becomes loose or detached. The regulator itself also may be damaged. In this case, the motor will run, but the window won't operate. You can remove the inside plastic front of the door to fix the problem, which is more cost efficient than taking it to a dealer for repairs. Use these tips to learn how to fix a power window on a Jeep Cherokee
Method

Troubleshoot the Electrical System

Ensure that the problem with the window isn't a blown fuse. Check all fuses at the driver's kick panel for burned out filaments. They will appear gray in color or look burned.

Replace blown fuses. Replace any fuses that are blown and try to power the window. If the wiring is receiving voltage, you will be able to hear the motor, despite the window not being operable.

Access the regulator to detach the window from it. Remove the interior rubber seal at the bottom of the window groove and locate the regulator inside of the hole. Locate the metal clip holding the regulator to the plastic receiver. Pull out the pin on both sides of the clip.

Detach the window motor from the regulator and motor. Disconnect the plugs that attach the power controls to the window motor and locate the 4 screws that attach the regulator to the door. Unscrew 3 of the screws, leaving the top left screw loose so it will hang in place. Locate the 3 screws to the motor and do the same thing.
