How to Fix a Power Window on a Jeep Cherokee
Two Methods:
Troubleshoot the Electrical System
Replace the Regulator

The Jeep Cherokee is equipped with optional power windows that house a regulator to power the window up and down. Problems with window operation can be as simple as checking the fuses, or making sure the lockout switches are receiving voltage. A common occurrence with the power window on the Cherokee is that the screw in the regulator, sometimes called a "worm screw," becomes loose or detached. The regulator itself also may be damaged. In this case, the motor will run, but the window won't operate. You can remove the inside plastic front of the door to fix the problem, which is more cost efficient than taking it to a dealer for repairs. Use these tips to learn how to fix a power window on a Jeep Cherokee

Method
1
Troubleshoot the Electrical System

Ensure that the problem with the window isn't a blown fuse. Check all fuses at the driver's kick panel for burned out filaments. They will appear gray in color or look burned.

Replace blown fuses. Replace any fuses that are blown and try to power the window. If the wiring is receiving voltage, you will be able to hear the motor, despite the window not being operable.

Method
2
Replace the Regulator

Remove the door panel of the window that won't work. Locate the screw underneath the door handle. Pull up the handle and remove the screw with a screwdriver.

Remove the plastic panel from the door frame. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the plastic panel out from the door frame. Pull carefully so as not to break the plastic.

Disconnect all parts connected to the plastic door frame. Disconnect the power window cable, the mirror cable and the lock controls. Locate the plastic clasps that cover the exposed and attached lock mechanisms. Pull the clasps up and turn until the rods in the mechanisms pull straight up.

Remove the 4 screws and connector plugs of the speaker.

Remove the black, plastic cover that sits between the door and the plastic panel. Carefully pull it off by hand, leaving the black adhesive attached.

Access the regulator to detach the window from it. Remove the interior rubber seal at the bottom of the window groove and locate the regulator inside of the hole. Locate the metal clip holding the regulator to the plastic receiver. Pull out the pin on both sides of the clip.

Pull out the window. Turn the window upside down so that it comes out top first.

Detach the window motor from the regulator and motor. Disconnect the plugs that attach the power controls to the window motor and locate the 4 screws that attach the regulator to the door. Unscrew 3 of the screws, leaving the top left screw loose so it will hang in place. Locate the 3 screws to the motor and do the same thing.

Remove the regulator and motor assembly. Gently pull the regulator and motor assembly, which are still attached, from the screw holes and tilt them inside the door, removing them from the hole.

Detach the motor from the regulator. Unscrew the 3 screws that hold the motor to the regulator. Discard the regulator.

Replace the regulator. Place the new regulator where the old one was and reattach it to the motor assembly.

Reinstall the door in reverse order.

Ball joint removal tool,

for a DANA 30

ok, if you live in the US, the budged way is, to rent the tool,
but if you have to buy it,

which tool is working ?

https://www.amazon.com/Astro-7865-Servi ... B00061SGJ0

DANA 30 is not part of the description, but an XJ Jeep owner (Dana 30) is giving a good reputation, as well as, David

Also concerning about the spare parts, there is discussion,
avoid this one,
http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php ... 73&jsn=373
http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php ... 92&jsn=369

cause many Jeep owners prefer the plain product, without the rifle,
cause the rifle will work and enlarge the frame.
