BANGKOK, 9 October 2016 (NNT) – Legal action will be taken against the owners of modified vehicles who fail to inform the Department of Land Transport (DLT) about the modifications.
DLT deputy director-general Nunthapong Cherdchu said driving a modified vehicle is illegal if the Department of Land Transport is not first informed of the modification.
He said some modifications can be dangerous to the driver, passengers and others; therefore, an inspection by DLT authorities is required before modified vehicles can be allowed on the road.
Dangerous modifications include additional car roofs, and engine tune-ups.
Modifications that do not require DLT’s approval include installation of bumpers, roof racks, floor mats, and spoilers.
